The Scoliosis Foundation Ghana (SFG) Advisory Board is a distinguished body of experts and professionals committed to providing strategic guidance and insights to support the foundation’s mission. The board plays an advisory role, offering expertise in healthcare, advocacy, fundraising, and policy development to enhance scoliosis awareness, early detection, and treatment accessibility in Ghana.

Gabriel Ntow Quao

Founder / CEO

Gabriel Ntow Quao, born and raised in Ghana, is a remarkable individual who has faced the challenges of scoliosis with unwavering determination and an indomitable spirit. Despite being diagnosed with scoliosis at a young age, Gabriel never allowed his condition to define him or limit his potential. Instead, he turned his adversity into a powerful catalyst for change and became an advocate for others who suffer from scoliosis.

With unwavering determination, Gabriel formed the Scoliosis Foundation Ghana, a nonprofit organization that provides support, screening, resources, and education to individuals with scoliosis in Ghana. Through the Scoliosis Foundation Ghana, Gabriel has organized outreach programmes, fundraising events, and awareness campaigns to ensure that no one facing scoliosis in Ghana feels alone or without access to proper care and support.

Dr. Benedicta Quao, MPhil. PHD

Chair

Ms. Benedicta Quao is a multifaceted professional with expertise in economics, research, and management consulting. As a Lecturer at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), she teaches Entrepreneurship Development and Business Ethics.

Ms. Quao holds a PhD in Marketing and an MPhil. Economics degree, with research focused on "The implications of the M2+ Aggregate for Monetary Management in Ghana". She also possesses a BA (Honors) Economics and Mathematics degree and a diploma in Education.

With over a decade of experience, Ms. Quao has worked in various capacities, including a 10-year tenure at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in the Performance Improvement Unit, where she handled market research, fund management, training coordination, micro and small enterprises development, and gender-related services, as well as corporate social responsibility activities. She has also served as a consultant for Optimal Consultancy Services, Special Advisor for Africa Forum Network (Affnet), Associate Consultant for GIMPA Consultancy Services, and Economic Advisor for Pentax Management Consultancy Services. Additionally, she has worked as an assistant administrator at the Ministry of Health Services and as an auditor with Deloitte and Touché.

Currently, Ms. Quao serves as the Board Chair of VisionFund Ghana, a subsidiary of World Vision Ghana, and Director of Finance for Harvest Chapel International, Tema Branch. Her areas of expertise include training organization, fund management, private sector development, policy analysis, economic research, feasibility/business plans, proposal writing, workshop facilitation, and auditing.

Ms. Quao has conducted extensive research in economic development, market research, and micro, small, and medium enterprise management, and has published several papers and presented at conferences. Her international exposure, gained through travel within Ghana, Africa, and globally, has broadened her professional perspective.

Dr. Nana Afia Achiaa Deiwaa I

Co - Chair

Dr. Nana Afia Achiaa Deiwaa I , is a distinguished Ghanaian resident in Sweden and a visionary founder of Deiwaa Royal Foundation, anon-profit organization focused on empowering women and children in the rural and vulnerable areas. She is a co-founder of Sweden Ghana Chamber of Commerce and a board member of Ghana Sweden Chamber of commerce and serves as a civil servant working in the education sector in Stockholm.

Dr. Nana Afia Achia Deiwaa serves on several boards amongst which are African Cancer Organization. Additionally, she holds the esteemed position of a Queen mother of Asante’s in Sweden which connects her to her Ghanaian Heritage.

As a Queen mother and President of the Ghana National Council of Sweden, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to her community. Her remarkable accomplishments have earned her an Honorary Degree of Doctorate in Executive Leadership from the International Kingdom University in Florida, USA, as well as a recipient of The International Annual Predecessors Award – Europe Edition in France 2024.This prestigious award recognizes her loyalty, faithfulness, outstanding devotion to the society and her excellence in leadership over the years.

Dr. Nana Afia Achiaa Deiwaa I’s commitment to fostering strong ties between Ghana and Sweden is evident in her work with the Ghana National Council of Sweden, where she has strengthened relationships with the Ghana Embassy and the Ghanaian community in Sweden and beyond. Her leadership has also been instrumental in promoting cultural exchange and understanding between the two nations.

As a prominent figure in the Ghanaian community in Sweden, her achievements serve as an inspiration to many. Her honorary doctorate degree is a testament to her tireless efforts to make a positive impact on society, and her legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire future generations.

As a Humanitarian, Dr. Nana Afia Achiaa Deiwaa I´s dedicated to supporting the Scoliosis Foundation Ghana is exemplary, and she remains committed to making a lasting impact through charity work and advocacy in alignment with SFGs mission.

Pastor Bernard Boaheng

Secretary

Bernard Boateng is a highly accomplished educator, interventionist, and an advocate of persons with disability. He has over 20 years of experience in teaching and lecturing across various educational levels. He is an expert in conducting norm-referenced psychological assessments and designing tailored interventions for learners with diverse educational needs.

Bernard has made significant contributions to education and disability policy in Ghana, including Ghana’s Inclusive Education Policy, Early Childhood Care and Development Standards and the Social Protection Bill and the African Social Protection Model, TRANSFORM. He was a national trainer, monitor and material developer for several interventions and programmes, including the Strengthening Teacher Accountability to Reach All Students (STARS), Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Differentiated Learning Intervention sponsored by United Nations Children’s Fund and the World Bank respectively.

Bernard has served on the boards of many disability organizations including Inclusion Ghana, where he was a founding board member, Special Attention Project and Scoliosis Foundation Ghana. He has represented the disability community in Ghana on local and International platforms in Germany and Kenya.

Bernard holds a 3-year Teacher’s Certificate ‘A’, Certificate in Specific Learning Difficulties, Certificate in Montessori Practice and Philosophy, Certificate –TRANSFORM, Certificate in the Didactic of Mathematics, Executive Certificate in Non-Governmental Organization Management, Diploma in Legal Studies, Diploma in Psychology, Diploma in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Qualified Teacher Certificate in Specific Learning Difficulties, Bachelor of Education degree, and a Master of Education degree.

Bernard has distinguished himself in several leadership positions spanning over 37 years in both religious and circular settings. Bernard is the principal of International Community College and the assistant pastor of Bethel Community Baptist Church. He is married with three children.

Joshua Kwabena Dadzie

Treasurer

Joshua Kwabena Dadzie is an accomplished entrepreneur and business executive with extensive experience in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise sector. Joshua Dadzie has worked in extensively in the insurance industry in Ghana Starting out as a business development officer, Joshua Dadzie rose through the ranks, from branch management before leaving the industry in charge of a whole area.

Joshua Dadzie has led the setting up, from the scratch, a microfinance company, serving first as Head of Operations & Marketing. He then rose to become the firm's Director and Head, Finance and Administration. He is credited with single- handedly creating the systems and structures that helped sustain the business for many years.

A deeply religious man, Mr. Dadzie also devotes substantial portion of his time to his church. The Church of Pentecost. He has served as the District Youth Leader of the Church Of Pentecost, Lartebiokorshie District. He has served as the Chairman of District Welfare Committee of the Lartebiokorshie District.

He currently holds three very important positions in the church: Chairman, of District Finance Committee of the Lartebiokorshie District. a Member of the Area Finance Committee of the Dansoman Area and the Chairman of the Chaplaincy and Chieftaincy Committee of the Lartebiokorshie District of the Church.

Mr. Joshua Dadzie holds an MBA in Finance from the Central University College, Diploma in Insurance from the Malta International Training Centre and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Cape Coast.
