SFG Commemorates International Scoliosis Day
Scoliosis Foundation Ghana, in partnership with Kelvin’s Spine Foundation and with the help of FOCOS Hospital, has launched a public awareness campaign about scoliosis in Accra.
The event was part of the commemoration of International Scoliosis Awareness Month.
It is an annual global event that focuses on scoliosis awareness, screening for early detection, and providing support for patients and their families. It was well-attended, with involvement from the Ministry of Health, orthopedics and spine specialists, the community, opinion leaders, and schoolchildren.
Briefing the Daily Graphic on their success story, Mr. Gabriel Ntow Quao, the founder and president of the Scoliosis Foundation Ghana, expressed confidence that, despite obstacles, the program’s goals and objectives were achieved. He went on to say that, as a newly founded non-governmental organisation, the foundation needs funds and logistical help to function properly.
He thanked Dr. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei, MD, Ms. Bettye Wright, Ms. Leticia Osei-Poku, and the whole staff at Focos Hospital in Ghana for their constant support.
He also thanked Kelvin Quaye, founder of the Kelvin’s Spine Foundation, for their good teamwork and promised to work together to realize both institutions’ visions.
Mr. Kelvin Quaye, who is a living testimony, added that Scoliosis is not a disadvantage and can be cured. He expressed his appreciation to Trick, Vision Multimedia, Anointed Printing, and everyone for their immersed support. He also thanked Ms. Bettye Wright and her Volunteer who supported in the exercise.
